This 1972 film tells the story of three Atlanta businessmen who decide to try their luck at survival skills.  They begin a white-river canoeing trip down the raging Chattooga River in northern Georgia.  What starts out as an exciting adventure turns into a white-knuckled journey into terror and tragic death.  The main stars—Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty and  Ronny Cox—all did their own dangerous stunts.  The movie was nominated for Best Picture. And the tune Dueling Banjos became a hit tune of the day.
