This 1972 independent film was the little “indie” that turned Hollywood on its head. Made for only $555,000, the movie grossed $60 million worldwide. It changed the thinking about the business of film-making overnight. The Dennis Hopper/Peter Fonda road picture depicted a wild journey of two drugged-out bikers and a wacky Texas lawyer seeking a life of freedom on the open road. But their trip ends violently, as the trio cannot escape the vengeance of a hypocritical society. Jack Nicholson was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. And the film soundtrack music became an enormous hit.
