MARK TWAIN

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, writing as Mark Twain, was a feisty, outspoken critic of many of Society’s ills.  But he is most fondly remembered for the books he wrote for young people. Clemens grew up in the mid-1800’s in Hannibal, Missouri. That town became the setting for two of his biggest hits—TOM SAWYER and HUCK FINN.  Huck and Jim, a runaway black slave, have a number of misadventures while sailing on a crude river raft. Mark Twain has often been called “the greatest American humorist of his age.”
